I was unable to get onto a PGCE course for next year, and feel that spending more time in an art classroom would improve my chances when applying again. According to the feedback from the interview, a lack of classroom experience and knowledge of the curriculum were the main reasons for not being accepted onto the course, so it is important to address this for the next time around. I felt that the content of my portfolio was not very well received, and that they maybe expected it to be less refined with sketchbook work, craft, painting, fabric, etc. The layout of my portfolio also needs to be more self-explanatory and structured to read how i want it to.
I will contact the teacher i worked with at cockburn college in the autumn to see if it's possible to get some more experience there after Easter.
